I have finally come up with some examples of visual communication. I t was hard to pick a few out since my project is in such early stages it was hard to decide what would be most important to illustrate. Much of my research revolves around the fact that most Cervical Cancers form from initial HPV infections. I decided it would be important for people to understand how the disease progresses. This first example I found is not great.
“Bad” Example: It is difficult to extrapolate time and the font is far too small.
The “good” example I came up with is this:
“Good” Example: This image shows progression over time more clearly.
I realized I generally determine the strength of scientific image by how much or how little verbal explination would be required to explain the topic in addition to the image. With tha said I thinkg one of my images needs a little work. I recently used this in a seminar to explain how permethylation of glycans helps with charectorization. I am not sure it translated well…
